Love their homemade style pizzas!

First time visit for me today and it was a really great experience. Lucy was our waitress and her customer service was over the top! The food was amazing and the environment was welcoming and lively. I would definitely recommend this place to others. Thank you for such a great experience!!

Really like the Blue Onion! The menu is varied, just lots of great fresh food choices. Our group of four chose different items and all were deemed very good and prices are reasonable. Service was pretty good and food arrived quickly even through it was lunch rush. We need one of these closer to the Island or Port Isabel. Only one ding: the bathrooms need some TLC!

This place is amazing, food options all make sense and are delicious I had the peta bread with red pepper hummus and my god the peta was amazing on it's own and even better with the hummus. I got the Colorado pizza, also amazing. Honestly haven't had a full meal at a place in a while where I was impressed with both the appetizer and the main dish. The staff and owner are friendly, he came to meet me as well, very detailed oriented individual clearly, he's done a fantastic job with his restuarant! I'll definitely be coming back with my family when they come to town.

My new favorite lunch/dinner spot in McAllen, Tx. The salads are great! I love the variety. They also have cauliflower- crust pizza that is very good. Fajita Pizza is our favorite.

Solid go-to for a quick and tasty lunch. I used to frequent the Weslaco location, and now I'm so happy to live near the McAllen location!

I took two business associates here who are visiting from Ohio. The food is not only high-quality but very very generous portions. The blue onion to is a go to place for me when I have people in from out of town and it has never disappointed

Unique dive that's for sure. If we're ever back in the area we'll be back to Blue Onion II, that's for sure. Nice change of place from all the Mexican restaurants in the area.

Salads are delicious good food reasonable priced

Ordered a dip sampler last night with a garlic goat cheese dip, a red pepper goat cheese dip and one hummus red pepper dip.Got the garlic goat cheese, hummus, and a bowl of JUST red pepper sauce, NO cheese.

ZERO STARS. Waited 30 Minutes for a calzone which was normal but then they brought me it, with RAW CHICKEN!!! I wish I would have taken a picture as proof because honestly, that was unbelievable.And not to mention the service being so rude like it was my fault for pointing it out. No consideration. Lucky I was sharing & had to cut it in half, otherwise I would have just dipped & bit into the thing.++& the chicken wasnt even more then half cooked. I would have to say 25% cooked and the calzone 100% cooked. So Next time if you are gonna order a calzone with chicken, ask for the chicken to be 100% well done.

Loved it! Clean environment, friendly staff, and a menu of great food. Don't expect the same old stuff here. The culinary arts are in full force. I highly recommend getting the dip sampler. I personally like the roasted pepper hummus, garlic hummus, and goat cheese with roasted garlic. That's right, goat cheese! You can also get a gyro that doesn't taste processed. I think everything is made in-house. It sure tastes like it. Give it a try if you want something that isn't in a tortilla.

Interesting ambiance. great gluten free pizza. Best gluten free crust I've had in a long time.

Excellent food great service awesome

The food was exquisite! My husband had the fajita wrap and soup, a lunch special. Half a wrap and it was HUGE! And oh so good. I had the mushroom and garlic wrap with a side salad. WOW! SO SO GOOD! The owner took time to talk to us and he was really nice! This has become my fav lunch place. Go early cuz it gets packed! But worth it!!!

This place is a great choice if you want to get away from fast food restaurants. The service is great and the restaurant is really quick and friendly.

Great Prices and Great Food was on point. Service was great and we never felt neglected. The only bad I find which is really another great were the food prices. In all honesty for the quality of food and great portions I think we seriously underpaid... even with a very generous tip. I highly recommend you try this place. It's my new favorite restaurant.

The food is good. Just don't sit in the corner near the bathroom or the waiters will forget about you. I think it's cool how the owner is there sometimes and busses tables and asks how everything is to the customers. Also the salads are the best in the valley. Been coming here for 10 years. ❤

We had such a good time sharing beer stories with our server (Yogi, I think)! The salads we ordered were very good. We're hoping to go once more while we're in town! We have eaten here about a dozen times and it never disappoints.They brew some of their own beer which is delicious, as well as make their own bread. Many vegan options. Great pizza. Love their hummus platters. Reasonably priced. Service always wonderful and pleasant. It's a fun, funky place!

One of the best places to eat. Great selections to eat, very nice atmosphere. Good place to eat, talk and enjoy. Good drink selections too.

Delicious! Their beef stew made with Shiner Bock is yummy! Their grilled flat bread and spreads is a must. Their gyros is 1 of the best in town!

The food is great. Management comes over to your table & makes sure everything is ok with the food, etc. Highly recommend it.

Blue onion of McAllen is way better and cleaner then weslaco. Even the wait staff is more friendlier and food is great..

I know the details. So much cross contamination. If you knew you wouldn't eat there. It's a very dirty restaurant, and the food is so so. The Salads are great. That's all the credit they get from me....

My sister brings me here which is my first time & I love it. The staff & food....excellent excellent excellent. Great atmosphere....Love Love this place.

Delicious food, great service!!

The salad is very good in comparison to other a la carte salads from other restaurants. Greens are all green and leafy, not watery and come with an array of dressing and protein choices. Don't need too much dressing to taste it through everything, with sunflower seeds adding texture and different proteins cooked well/easy to eat. Fajita with 1/2 serving of honey mustard is my favorite: a generous serving of tender beef with a slightly tangy salad.

I placed a pickup order. They got 2 out of 3 items in my order wrong, which I realized only upon getting back home. Their food is okay. Pasta salad tastes like eating straight out of a jar of Dijon mustard.

I ordered the gyro with cucumbers and potato salad. Everything was excellent! The gyro contains strips of lamb and beef, which I loved. The service took a little longer, so don't come here if you're rushed, but everything was clean, and delicious. The staff is friendly. It was very crowded during the time we went, which was around lunch time. I think every table was full. Shows you how great it is!

Terrible owners that disrespect their staff and have only one POS system despite mad rushes that cause problems with getting food out and tabs paid. An unhappy staff makes for a less than desirable meal.

Great pizza and calzone varieties. Service a little slow but worth the wait.

Seriously the best pizza I have had in Texas. It actually tastes like New York pizza. The dough has been fermented and has great flavor, the sauce wasn't thick and gloopy and overly sweet, and the mozzarella wasn't bland. It had a bit of char on the crust, that I like.

This has been one of our favorite restaurants for years. The food is always delicious and the service is very good. It's a very low key atmosphere in there and people come as they are. The prices are fair but some people consider the prices a little on the high side. Love the gyros and the salad with homemade balsamic vinegar. Been to the Blue Onion numerous times and have always been impressed with the quality and freshness of their food (NEVER bagged salad) and variety of the menu. Portion size is impressive, as are the dressings and sauces. Wil definitely return!

Food was very good. Service was great. Ambience was quiet, so even we were a medium group that required two tables, we could hear each other without raising our voices. We were allowed to order from the lunch menu specials at dinner time. Prices were fair.

In an area of every corner has a Mexican food place this was a welcomed change. They didn't disappoint. Staff was great, very helpful too. And food came in a timely manner even tho we went on a Friday at lunch hour. Love Blue Onion!

One of my favorite restaurants. Their bread is delicious, and the grilled veggie salad is one of the best salads I’ve ever had. The hummus is perfect. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, even if I haven’t been in a while. I still order from here via Favor, and it never disappoints.

Everything is to die for. Gyro pita and lamb pita by far the best dish I have ever had in my life. The blue onions has so many homemade dish made with love and flavors. Don’t miss out! The owner name Dan came by and gave us a warm welcome and Gerry was very helpful as he took care of us and our orders! Ps Desserts are delicious!!!

Ladies restroom (probably men's also) need major cleaning! Dirty and smudged walls, flooring and door need to be scrubbed clean. Please remove the old tape residue from the walls. Is there a reason to have a dirty broken toilet bowl cleaner thrown on the floor under the sink? I got nauseous today after using the facilities! Owner, please do your business a service by doing a walk-through of both restroom facilities and restoring and maintaining the cleanliness of these restrooms. Thank you. On the positive side: Food is fresh and tasty, Service is excellent, Owner is friendly and very accommodating! I would gladly give Blue Onion in McAllen a 5 star rating, if not for the dirty restrooms

I had the lots of meats calzone. It was just delicious. I don't understand why they give you cold tomato sauce because it ruins the flavor. This place is pizza calzones salads and has a good selection of wines and microbrew beer. Ask them to heat the tomato sauce.

A local independent restaurant that never fails to serve fresh and delicious food. Whatever you order will be better than you expect. Their flatbread is the best you'll ever have.
